The Journey To Goal Achievement – 7 Key Questions

Hello welcome back!

So in personal development, one of the things we talk about most is setting some goals or setting a direction of travel. There are different ways of looking at it. One of the things, as I think about this topic, I’m thinking about what Napoleon he wrote in his “Think and Grow Rich” series and one of the things that he looked at is success principles. And within that, he talks about 17 success principles.

Obviously, there are so many of these principles here, but the key one is definiteness of purpose, that someone has to have a definiteness of purpose. So that is the goal and that is the direction of travel. I like keeping things simple, so with that in mind, what I like to do is to simplify the whole process and what I’m going to do now is just look at the whole business about goal setting as if you are traveling on a journey.

The way I look at it, like your journey is you start from here where you are. So the first question you ask yourself is, where am I now? Where am I now? So I’m here. How did I get to here? So whatever you are looking at is in this case, in order to get here, of course I had to walk from down here there to get up to this point. But in the case of setting goals what you are looking at is what is your current position in life. So this could be to do with you are health with your relationships, with your financial issues, with your career.

So where are you now with your career? Where you now with your health? Where you now with your relationship? or whatever part of your life you want to develop. So that’s the first thing that you’re looking at on the journey, is looking at where you are now.

The next thing to look at is that if you think about it, we human beings, we like some progress to move forward. So the next question to ask yourself is, where do I want to go? Where do I want to go? So this is the goal where you want to go. So in this case, because we’re talking about goals, this could have something to do with your career. What do you want to be where you’re going? Where are you going? In terms of finance, what sort of money or level of achievement do you want to attain in the case of relationships. Again, you set a destination as to where you’re going with your health, where you’re going.

The next question to ask yourself that question number three is why do I want to go there? Why do I want to go there? Why do I want to improve my health? Why do I want more money? Why do I want some improvements in my career? So that’s the third question that you ask yourself. And the other thing to look at is that if everything was fine, you would already have possibly achieved that goal.

So the next question that you need to ask yourself is, what are the obstacles? What are the obstacles that are preventing you to get there? What are the obstacles? What are the obstacles that are standing in your way in terms of your health? What are the obstacles that are standing in your way in terms of your financial goals? What are the obstacles that are standing in your way? In terms of your relationships. So that is the fourth question.

And then the fifth question is, what are you going to do in order to get there? You know where you’re going? But there are some obstacles. How do you get around those obstacles? It might be that you need some help from someone who can assist you in order to get there or you need to learn some new skills that will allow you to get there in order to surmount those obstacles. It could be that you need some more training in order to advance your career. So that is the question on what are you going to do? What are you going to do, which is the fifth question.

The final question is once you get there, how are you going to know that you are there? So in this case, in the case of Career Goals, as an example, let’s say you wanted to be at a certain position because the position itself is defined, you know exactly where you’re going to be. So another thing is, let’s say if it’s actually financial goals because you know how much you want to attend in terms of financial goals, so you’ve got a measurable sort of result and once you achieve or you get that amount of money that you wanted to have, that means, you know, you are where you wanted to be.

So that’s how am I going to know? When I’m there. That’s what we are looking at. So those are the seven questions that you can ask yourself in order to attain the goals that you want. So let’s just do a recap on these seven questions that you ask yourself in order to make sure that you achieve your goals.

The first question is, Where am I now? So what do you do? You assess the current position in terms of your goals that you want to achieve. Question number two is, How did I get here? Here you look at what you’ve done so far in order to get where you are now. Question number three is Where do I want to go? That is the goal showing where you want to go. And then question number four is, Why do I want to go there? There must be a reason, a why? Why you want to go there. And question number five is What are the obstacles? What are the obstacles that are preventing you from getting there? And question number six is What are you going to do? What are the steps that are going to take in order to get there? And question number seven, How are you going to know once you reach that goal or you reach that destination?

So those are some useful questions that you can ask yourself and use that in order to review your current position, in order to achieve the goals that you want to attend. Thank you for listening.
